One Week, 3 Songs Down...

Just last week I started the recording process for my first solo guitar album. I’m very excited to finally record what I’ve written. My set up is quite simple. Bare bones really…

I’m using some basic MXL condenser microphones (MXL 440/441 to be exact), a simple two-input TAPCO digital audio interface that was given to me by a good friend of mine, and Logic recording software. I’m sure most of you know what Logic is. If you don’t, I HIGHLY recommend it. The equipment I’m using (mics & interface) isn’t the greatest, but thanks to the Logic software, it works and gets the job done!

So far, after this first week, I’ve recorded three songs. I’m trying to get things recorded after work and on the weekends. I’ve only had a few minor setbacks: 1) USPS sent my strings/guitar accessories to the wrong location 2) I’m battling some weird kind of computer fan disorder; the fan in my mac will kick on high speed after about 10 minutes or so of being turned on (despite my attempts to fix it by resetting the SMC). To keep the fan noise out of the recording process, I’ve had to put my computer to sleep and then wake it again (if anyone has any tips on how to fix this, send me an e-mail or leave a message in the comments, I’d greatly appreciate it!) Aside from that, so far so good!

Here are a few pics of my setup (the books are acting as my foot rest since I seem to have lost my real foot rest (no disrespect to the books!)):
